FBI Director: ISIS Tentacles Reach into All 50 U.S. States
Good show! I am working at home today, catching up on shows while I work. I really appreciated the post storm de-briefing. I have only been prepping since last summer, but I have done a LOT in just 5 months. Our Jotul Rangely woodstove (rated at 83,000 btu!), which I had installed in our kitchen in August, is designed to cook on, plus we have our new gas cooktop, and they were lifesavers. I had put up about 2 1/2 cords of wood so far, so I was fine on that. Plus, I bought two of the Honda 2000i inverter generators (the regular one plus the companion, which allows you to hook them in duplex to have almost 4000 watts of power) that barely sipped the gas and which ran flawlessly. We also have a gas hot water tank and, so far, about 3 months of food stored for the household, not including what is in the pantry, fridge, and freezer. We did fine! We were warm, could take a hot shower, had electricity for lights and charging electronics, had the boombox playing some nice music, and we easily kept the fridge and freezer running and lost no food to spoilage. I have about 50 gallons of gas on hand at all times (a cheap prep!), and it is in 3 different octanes and all of it has Stabil in it, so fuel for the Honda generators was not a problem. They only burned about 1 gallon each every 10 hours, and because it was cold outside, I only needed to run power to the freezer in the garage for about 2 hours a day and I kept it at 20 degrees or below. I was blown away. Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for all you do and for all of the great info you give. If I hadn’t been prepared, we would have been completely screwed. As it was, we were totally comfortable and were able to help others who were not prepared whatsoever. It was actually fun to bust out the preps, get everything up and going, and to know that I had done the right thing and could take care of my family. I have a lot to learn, and I now know of a few weaknesses and things I could do better, but all things considered, this first test was a success. Blessings to you and yours!
