Be SURE to check the ‘Current Fire Incidents’ box to display fires outside of IdahoZoom in and click on a fire for details:

From the Wildcad dispatch page (links above), you can copy/paste the grid coordinates and drop them into a mapping website, such as Google Maps.

BE SURE to add a dash (-) to the longitudinal number or it will place you on the other side of the world on the map.

Note that the pin on the map may not be the exact location of the fire. In our experience, the location of the reporting party may be displayed, especially in the initial stages of responding to a fire. In one case, a resident reported smoke on the side of the mountain a mile away, and the grid coordinates placed a pin on her property, not the location of the smoke.

WIND DIRECTION

Wind direction and speed are very critical things to know, especially during wilfires. They can move VERY fast.
