Thank you, Mark Goodwin author of The Days of Noah for sponsoring Eye on the Economy.
From your first segment about the Coach praying, I have to ask if there was a disabled, combat wounded veteran, who was a 3rd generation native born American, you would not let him exercise his right to pray if he was a Muslim, even if he thought Sharia was something for inside the Mosque and otherwise swore and spilled his blood to protect the Constitution and our country?
I thought the American Redoubt was trying to preserve and return to Liberty as the original meaning of the Constitution, rooted in the Bible but without a religious test – the oath is to defend the Constitution. Do you consider Catholics or Mormons or Jehovah’s Witnesses Christian? Are they welcome?
I no more want a Lord Protector Cromwell theocracy http://www.olivercromwell.org/faqs4.htm than I would want Sharia. I want liberty.
There have been witch hunts before http://www.wnd.com/2004/09/26421/ at which we should be ashamed – one is nearby in Northern Wyoming, there is another in Idaho where AMERICAN CITIZENS lost everything except their lives.
Yes, the invaders (including anchor babies) are the ones that belong in the FEMA camps getting minimal aid until they are repatriated – but they aren’t US Citizens and likely never will be. They are “displaced persons” at best.
But maybe I was wrong about the American Redoubt – instead of reestablishing Liberty and Justice for all citizens, it is or will be Tyranny in the name of Jesus.
And the worst thing is it will be out of fear. 9/11 – because we despised our liberty, we got the PATROIT Act, TSA Gate Rape, the Dept. of Homeland Security and the rest of the national security police juggernaut. It would only be used against Muslim terrorists, right? Our hate and fear led us to give up our liberty – and the only think we still have left is our guns, but even those are mostly registered.
If you are enslaved to your fears, you cannot be free. You will always find something, someone to fear. And commit grave sins to feel more secure, but security is an illusion. And say “But we can’t give them the same liberty”. Liberty is indeed dangerous. I can choose to do something risky. I can choose not to turn the police into the Guestapo or Stasi – wasn’t East Germany under communism safe?
Courage is what overcomes fear so we can all be free. But Courage means to take risks. Not stupid or unnecessary risks. But risk that your neighbor isn’t a sleeper spy even though he attends a different church. Risk that allowing your neighbor to speak might incite something but is more likely to educate everyone with a different perspective. Risk that you might be killed while driving because even though there might be a deer you prefer to drive faster. Risk being radically free to live as you want – and risk letting others live as they want until or unless they do something harmful.
And it does work both ways but not the way you think. How many people will give up YOUR second amendment rights as fast of faster as you will give up their first amendment rights?
We are each cowards giving up each other’s rights until all of us are left with none.
Others are giving up your rights out of fear and hate. It takes courage to defend liberty itself and refuse not only to let your rights be taken but defend the rights of others when there is a risk they will misuse them.
Let Islam get a foothold and there will be no religious liberty for anyone (unless you’re the right kind of Muslim). Don’t mistake me for a libertarian. I’m a Christian patriot and I don’t condone liberty at the expense of our Christian American heritage. If you’re so eager to embrace Islam for the sake of championing liberty for all, you are naïve to the magnitude of the threat we’re faced with, all in the name of ‘liberty’. Count me out. The problem is that the consequences of your ’embrace all views’ are irreversible and there would be no “oops, that was a bad idea. Let’s redo this…”
Embracing Islam so we can say we took “courageous risks” is not only NOT courageous, it is recklessly naïve. The real courageous patriots, in my opinion, are those who would stand firm for their heritage, values, and Christian beliefs.
Your quote: “I thought the American Redoubt was trying to preserve and return to Liberty as the original meaning of the Constitution, rooted in the Bible but without a religious test – the oath is to defend the Constitution.”
My response: Islam is incompatible and antithetical to the US Constitution, so supporting it is inherently unconstitutional.
There’s my take on things.
