American Blackout
National Geographic has produced a series that could give us a glimpse into a potential future grid-down scenario on a nationwide scale — and the ramifications.
The premier of American Blackout is tonight (Sunday, October 27th, 2013) at 9pm Eastern Time. Since it airs within a couple of hours prior to RFR (The John Jacob Schmidt Show), I will not be able to watch it, unfortunately. I’ll have to try to catch it during the week if it’s available. I’d love to receive feedback and thoughts from all of you. Just leave comments below. Below is one of the trailers. Have a blessed weekend! -JJS
Don’t bother unless your want to see nothing but unprepared idiots making mistakes that will kill approximately 90% of the totally unprepared citizenry of the US. Even the ones that think they are totally on top of it make really stupid decisions that will get their entire families killed. Realistically I know we only have enough to survive a couple of months even less when our medications run out or goes bad from lack of refrigeration. It was a shocker how people were portrayed, lets pray it never happens or at least not until I have enough time to install alternate heat refrigeration and at least quadruple our preps.
I can’t believe that I stayed awake for this. Was better off watching the reruns of DDP, that was on before. God bless all.
I watched this with a different view. I know all of us here in the community are way ahead of the people we saw on this but here is the thing; We should watch this to understand how bad it is really going to get. Yes… did I find the Prepper father overbearing, yes. Did the boyfriend of the daughter need to come along, no.
But we should watch this in the hopes of showing friends and family why they need to prep. It’s not an instructional video. It’s a scenario video.
I’m surprised at the hubris of a couple of these comments. Is your prepping so thorough that you have not missed a single trick? You’re so educated in this area that you cannot learn one more thing about a catastrophic situation?
I have not seen this show, but would like to. I’d like to see what others imagine would happen in order to spur on my thought process. Others make mistakes? Oh yeah. The stress levels placed on some (who may even think they are prepared) will cause them to make rash and emotional decisions that could harm themselves and others. Don’t be so arrogant that you think it’s impossible to happen to you. Go learn something and get better. See past the “hollywood” folly and reason your way to something that improves YOUR preps.
