North Colorado: A new addition to the American Redoubt?

Northern Colorado (or should I say, North Colorado) could be the next addition to the American Redoubt if things go according to the plans of commissioners, legislators, sheriffs and citizens in northern rural Colorado state.

GREELEY, COLO. – Officials in eight northern Colorado counties united in opposition to the state’s new gun control laws and oil and gas regulations are reportedly considering forming a 51st U.S. state called North Colorado.

The Denver Post reports that a proposal to separate Weld, Morgan, Logan, Sedgwick, Phillips, Washington, Yuma and Kit Carson counties from the rest of the state was hatched at a meeting of county commissioners last week.

Several of the rural, predominantly Republican counties of North and and Northeastern Colorado are fed up with the left-leaning laws that Democrats passed this year in the state and want to split from Colorado and form the 51st state: North Colorado.

“Our very way of life is under attack,” Weld County Commissioner Sean Conway said on Thursday, 9News reported.

Conway is leading the charge for Weld, Morgan, Logan, Sedgwick, Phillips, Washington, Yuma and Kit Carson counties to split off and form a new state, a plan that was formed at a Colorado Counties Inc. conference earlier this week, according to The Denver Post.
