Community Commerce Center Mapping Project & WINMOR in the American Redoubt

ITEM #1
Phase 1 of the Economic Development Plan (Local Commerce/Trade/Markets)
Mapping project. We are compiling a list to map out currently-active locations where Swap Meets, Farmers Markets, or any other venue where citizens are meeting at regularly-scheduled event locations. These will become the future Community Commerce Centers for the exchange of goods, services, information, organizing, and networking. Please let us know of any in you area! If you could provide the Name of the place, Address, Website, and any contact information you can. This will be a huge help. THis will be the first step (hence: ‘Phase 1’) in a post-collapse environment.

Re EMP threat –
There is another wrinkle to this problem that just occurred to me. What happens if our nuclear missile subs lose contact with Naval command? What happens when they surface to get a satellite link and there are no satellites working, and no radio transmissions from the mainland. Would they assume we’ve been attacked? What then?

There is an entire portion of the US Navy dedicated to ensuring communications continuity to our nuclear armed submarines. I could go into a lot of detail on this but you can imagine the classification level on this kind of stuff.

We’ve all known it was coming. High and then hyper inflation is only a matter of time. We should all have our vegetable gardens started already, and other skills/trades that will help in a barter economy.

I am normally a fairly tolerant kind of guy, trying to find solutions to problems. However, I have had it with these people. Expecting them to behave like adults is apparently expecting too much. If they tried something stupid on a large scale, I would not have much regret over turning their country into a glass-lined parking lot*.

This Muslim uprising is just one component (pixel) in a giant picture.
RE: Hyperinflation
1. Transfer wealth into tangibles (Land, ammo, silver, gold, FOOD, seeds, tires, gasoline, propane, etc.). Begin stocking up on currency you can use for making transactions when the Dollar collapses, especially with ‘Junk Silver’ (which isn’t junk at all).
2. Increase food storage to one year MINIMUM.
3. Quickly develop plan to increase garden size, or Co-op with neighbors, friends, church group, etc, to develop a garden. Remember, food storage is only a temporary solution until you can begin producing your own.
4. Water procurement & water treatment plan
5. Defense (adequate combat arms with large quantities of ammunition for shooting and for barter).
6. Shortwave Radio Reciever (w/Single Sidband)
There’s more… oh, so much more. The above is a great start.
Those are the biggies. Start with Food, Water, Shelter, then work out from there. FAST!

Thanks for the reminder! Sometimes I feel like I’m just flailing away trying to get prepared while keeping things going. Being an electronic engineer with a love for fixing vacuum tube radios, an amateur-extra ham, a machinist, a hands-on do-er, etc., I am inspired that I may have ended up in the American Redoubt as part of some greater plan.
