I think Rawles’ prediction of high interest rates would be correct under more normal circumstances. However, I don’t think it will play out that way. My hunch is that Congress doesn’t have the back bone to be so honest, and will have the Fed continue to monitize the debt (QE III, IV, V…). This will cause high, then hyper inflation.
What is likely to happen then is that people will complain bitterly about the inflation, and rather than deal with the cause, the government will introduce prices controls. The price controls will then lead to shortages, which is the usual outcome.
What happens then is anybody’s guess, but will probably be very negative for those who are unprepared.f
