Q. I’m thinking about getting my Ham Radio License, but don’t know much about it. Is it diffcult or expensive?
A. Lot’s of preppers, patriots, and Redoubters are buying Ham radios (transceivers) so they can listen and monitor Ham radio traffic. It’s better than just a receiver, because in an emergency they can also transmit (talk TO) other people without a license. But many are moving to the next step by getting licensed. It’s really easy and inexpensive (Testing fees range from FREE – $25), depending on where you go to take your test. You can study for it by going to http://www.hamradiolicenseexam.com/index.html., which costs about $25, or you can contact your local Ham club and they often have study resources and/or classes for free or extremely affordable rates. The test is only 35 questions and you no longer have to learn Morse Code to get your Ham license.
