FEAR NOT!  It’s in the Bible:

Galatians 6:7 ESV / 27 helpful votes

Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

The policies of the US Government, as well as our popular culture is mocking God.  What can we expect to reap, as a nation?  Corruption.

Matthew 6:25-34

‘That is why I am telling you not to worry about your life and what you are to eat, nor about your body and what you are to wear. Surely life is more than food, and the body more than clothing!

26 Look at the birds in the sky. They do not sow or reap or gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they are?

27 Can any of you, however much you worry, add one single cubit to your span of life?

28 And why worry about clothing? Think of the flowers growing in the fields; they never have to work or spin;

29 yet I assure you that not even Solomon in all his royal robes was clothed like one of these.

30 Now if that is how God clothes the wild flowers growing in the field which are there today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, will he not much more look after you, you who have so little faith?

31 So do not worry; do not say, “What are we to eat? What are we to drink? What are we to wear?”

32 It is the gentiles who set their hearts on all these things. Your heavenly Father knows you need them all.

33 Set your hearts on his kingdom first, and on God’s saving justice, and all these other things will be given you as well.

34 So do not worry about tomorrow: tomorrow will take care of itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.’

Some teach that this means we shouldn’t prepare, and that we should rely on the Lord…

Not about preparing, it’s about WORRYING.

Several Biblical examples of preparedness:

Proverbs 22:3

New International Version (NIV)

The prudent see danger and take refuge,
but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.

Go to the ant, O sluggard,
Observe her ways and be wise,
Which, having no chief,
Officer or ruler,
Prepares her food in the summer
And gathers her provision in the harvest.

he Bible also has a lot to say about “worrying”.  This is not to be confused with “preparedness”.  We walk by faith that the Lord is in control, and we also use what the Lord has blessed us with to take care of ourselves and family.

So he gathered all the food of these seven years which occurred in the land of Egypt and placed the food in the cities; he placed in every city the food from its own surrounding fields.

Thus Joseph stored up grain in great abundance like the sand of the sea, until he stopped measuring it, for it was beyond measure. (Genesis 41:47-49)

  • Noah prepares for flood: Genesis 6-7  (Did he worry?)

Genesis 6:21

New International Version (NIV)

21 You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.”

  • Joseph stores grain to save Egypt: Exodus 37, 38-45:1-8 (Did he worry?)

  • Jesus’s parable of the 10 well-prepared virgins: Matthew 25:1-13

Matthew 25:6-13

25 “At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
“At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’
“Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’
“‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’
10 “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.
11 “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’
12 “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

Context:  Be prepared for Christ’s return – but biblical concept/principle that can be applied to anything in life.  Do you think the foolish virgins were worried?  Did they know in advance to prepare?  What if they hadn’t known?

Don’t ‘worry,’  just prepare!

One that I forgot to mention in the broadcast:

Do not tempt the Lord thy God!

The Lord will provide and protect.  But if you are aware that disaster, famine or some kind of danger is coming and make a conscious decision to do NOTHING, you are tempting the Lord.  Good posting on this topic:
